From Pastor Mary Beth: "Always Better Together"

One day this fall, when people were doing projects at the church, I came across Mary and Barbara. They were working together sorting through costumes and making plans for the upcoming pageant. I often notice these two getting things done, partnering to create worship visuals, banners, and costumes for worship. They plan, shop, sew, install, perfect, and start planning again with new ideas and a next project. We, as a congregation, are blessed by their creative and faithful work together.

This is the nature of the church.  Partnering happens in twos or threes, but also in teams, building community, deepening faith, and leading to effectiveness and joy.  Because we have different personalities, we sometimes have to work hard at getting along. But it’s worth it. In the long run, it’s always better together.  By the way, in a few days, we’ll see the results of your partnership in a dramatically improved family room, located upstairs behind the balcony. Thanks, Clint, for bringing people together to work, creating a more comfortable place where families can participate in worship.

I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together!

Reconciling Notes

Download Here: Our 5 Year History as a Reconciling Congregation

We celebrate Fairlington's 5-year anniversary of becoming a Reconciling Congregation, intentionally welcoming all people as beloved children of God.

Our celebratory theme, “Love in All Colors,” reflects the breadth and diversity of God’s human creation as proclaimed in our church’s welcoming statement.

Check out our audio for personal testimonies from FUMC members. They share how being part of a reconciling congregation has personally affected them and shaped their faith journey.
