Genesis 1:1-5, 24-27; Matthew 28:16-20
This Sunday concludes our sermon series on your questions. Though the answer to this week’s question is simple, it may be one of the hardest to navigate. We believe in one God, but central to our faith is the doctrine of the Trinity. We are monotheistic, but we sing “God in three persons, blessed Trinity.”
We can think about the traditional symbols for the Trinity: a triangle, a triangle/circle combination, a three-leaf clover, and a trefoil. What do they tell you about the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Look at the Celtic Triquentra, or Trinity Knot, pictured above. Trace your finger along its complex lines and you will be surprised at what you find: unity, perfection, oneness, and the completeness of God.
