My friend Trish's husband, David, wrote a blog post a few months ago when it was clear she was going to lose her battle with cancer. He describes telling his daughters their mother was going to die. Trish wasn't sure about her relationship with God. She said she hoped there was an afterlife, and that she believed in magic. I guess that's what we all hope for - a little magic, or peace, or grace as we are facing our last days on earth. And David, in the face of unimaginable sadness, showed love and grace to his kids and to the hundreds of people who read his blog.
