There’s a bulletin board in Room 111  covered with photos.  These photos depict individual members of a Sunday School class which has met in that room over the years.  Sunday after Sunday they have met to talk, pray, study, to laugh and to cry.   People have come and gone from that group, but it has been the fertile soil for holy friendship.

Such friendships are a gift.  They help us know grace and experience love.  Such relationships are holy because they draw us closer to God and cause us go deeper in faith.  As a congregation that seeks to welcome all, we know that preparing the soil for new friendships is integral to living out our welcome.

Through individual conversations over coffee, and through small groups in the church, we can make connections that over the years bring us joy, sustain us and get us through tough times.  May Fairlington be a place where those old and new relationships are being formed every day.

As a teenager, I struggle most days to wake up and get out of bed and get going. However, one of my biggest motivators is that God is telling  me that I have a purpose and that there is a reason I should get up. Throughout the day, I often feel the Holy Spirit filling me and urging me onward. A clear example was this past weekend when I was competing with my crew team in the Virginia State Championships.

Download Here: Our 5 Year History as a Reconciling Congregation

We celebrate Fairlington's 5-year anniversary of becoming a Reconciling Congregation, intentionally welcoming all people as beloved children of God.

Our celebratory theme, “Love in All Colors,” reflects the breadth and diversity of God’s human creation as proclaimed in our church’s welcoming statement.

Check out our audio for personal testimonies from FUMC members. They share how being part of a reconciling congregation has personally affected them and shaped their faith journey.
